Australian Natural History Safari is an upmarket, low volume tour business operating out of Thylogale Nature Refuge. We cater to a maximum tour group size of four people using a four wheel drive Toyota Landcruiser GXL. 
We offer two tour options: 
(1) A half day experience which is a walk in the rainforest at Thylogale with morning tea included.
(2) A full day excursion including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

 

This is a two person operation that employs no staff or outside contractors. The morning is spent here at Thylogale walking in the rainforest viewing a variety of wildlife. Morning tea is held here in our bush shelter in the rainforest. We are one of the few operators to have a permit to traverse the Mt Lewis State Forest where we have lunch. In the afternoon we go out into the much drier eucalypt forest for a contrast in eco-systems.

We presently have very good relations and support from the two main eco-resorts in the Port Douglas area, Silky Oaks Lodge and Thala Beach Lodge. We are also the preferred rainforest wildlife tour in the Port Douglas/ Daintree area for several overseas and Australian travel agents.

Thylogale's rainforest and abundant, friendly wildlife, coupled with its close proximity to the thriving tourist destination of Port Douglas, gives scope for future expansion of the business well beyond its present low key, low volume approach.
