This is part of Shakespeare Cottages in Park Lane.  It is believed that the man in the apron was a saddler and bootmaker. The two houses opposite were called "The Saddlers" and "Saddler's View". A Miss Alice Ray lived at The Saddlers, and the Snitterfield Names Index lists a Mr. Wm. Ray as a saddler, so perhaps he is the man in the photo.
